I am worried about my husband’s life: Afifa Azam

DHAKA: Detained former Jamaat Ameer Professor Ghulam Azam’s wife Syeda Afifa Azam alleged of irregularity in the prison cell of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) and expressed concern over her husband’s life.
“The BSMMU prison cell authority let me waiting for one hour under the open sky when I went to meet with my husband on Friday. But they had not even shown the courtesy to inform the reason of the delay,” she said in a statement.
She said that Ghulam Azam became so weak for lack of sufficient and balanced diet. Serious accident might be happened any time if the situation continues.
She demanded for ensuring balanced diet for her husband.
“My husband has to wash his plate by himself in this old age. The inhuman attitude of hospital and jail authority towards Ghulam Azam is a violation of human rights,” she added.
The Jamaat leader’s wife said they could not send the Quran, Hadith and Islami books to Ghulam Azam after giving written and oral application on last 17 days.
“We are concerned about the life of Ghulam Azam. The administration’s indifferent attitude and carelessness is inhuman. We want immediate resolution of the situation,” said Afifa Azam.
